OUR SERVICES
SWEDISH/RELAXATION
Difficulty Level: Beginner/Easy
If you’ve ever wondered and never known, Swedish Massage is one of the lightest forms of massage and is beneficial for relaxation and improvement of circulation. If you’ve not received the benefit of massage before and are not sure where to start, this is for you. The pressure level varies from light to firm, depending on your needs, but usually doesn’t extend very deep into the tissue.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Difficulty Level: Heroic (Medium)
If you’ve been nervous to try deep tissue before, never fear! Deep tissue massage, as the name implies, goes beyond the surface to address the underlying issues in the body. However, contrary to what many think, this does not have to involve a great deal of pain. The pressure involved is deeper than a relaxation massage but usually lighter than Trigger Point Therapy. For many clients, this is their “Goldilocks treatment”, as we strive to get the maximum benefit with minimum pain.
You can expect a certain amount of discomfort (what I like to call a “hurt so good”, like when you stretch) but not much more. We will keep in communication with you to assure that you are comfortable. Afterward, you may feel some soreness in areas that required specific attention, like you did a very focused workout.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Difficulty Level: Mythic (Hard)
Trigger Point Therapy or NMT (Neuromuscular Therapy) focuses on releasing nodules that are often found in taut and sore muscles. They form in the tissue and have increased sensitivity and often refer pain to another area of the body.
This is ideal for clients who are pros at receiving massage and is not recommended for first-timers, with exceptions made for either the very brave or those currently suffering from extreme pain or range of motion issues.
This treatment is usually very focused work on one or a few areas, not full body. It is ideal for treating issues in specific problem areas such as the neck, shoulder, knees, or ankles.
If you’re willing to trade some pain and a little soreness now for relief later, then this may be the treatment for you.
